Batcha Theatre

The Sathyam Cinemas of the past.. "The Minerva cinemas', "the up-to-date,coolest theater in the presidency!
Came by this 101 years old theater while roaming in north Chennai. The tickets cost 20 rupee

The theatre is not in a great condition. However, it is one of the few theatres showing movies on film. They show old Tamil films. The films change twice a week - Tuesday and Friday. There are four shows a day. Apparently, Vijaykant movies are most popular here, but they show other movies as well. It is a wonderful place for cinephiles to watch old Tamil films.

This theatre has historical importance. Almost 100 years old.

Pro's:

1) Recently renovated, so seats are comfortable and ambience is good.

2) Snacks are good, but a bit over priced.

3) Picture quality is good

4) Bike parking available

5) Budget ticket prices (₹130)

6) Nearby Mannady metro station.

Cons:

1) Locality is not that great. Interior of Broadway.

2) Sometimes the sound is too high to hear.

3) Show timings are not strictly adhered.

4) I guess, AC was switched off after interval. Or cooling was low.

But, overall it's worth a visit.

Completely renovated

Nice theatre with 4k projection.
The sound system is good.
Food and beverage is also good.

A small but gud theater recently refurbished.. Quality and everything are decent. The best part is the audio and vedio experience. It has a Sony 4k projector. So the movie is great and the audio is also great.

Previous visit to this theatre was not good but now Condition of the theatre has been impressive, drastic changes has taken place, Traffic congestion is more in this area so plan your journey accordingly.
