Beautiful architecture, but beware of Hawkers… they might ruin your experience...

You will enter this by passing through one of the big Darwaha (gate) called Buland Darwaja.
This 17th-century mosque in also in World Heritage Site. After Agra, people come here for this along with Buland Darwaja and Panchmahal. It is situated opposite the Agra Fort right in the middle of Fatehpur Sikri.
the architecture of the courtyard and surrounding buildings are very impressive. There were worshippers praying while I was there, which added to the reverent atmosphere. But you will get frustrated by these hawkers. They 'll be after you for everything. Don’t ruin the India Image. You may find a few marble craft sellers sitting nearby the Masjid. They have good products but often quote double the price. Make sure you bargain well in case you want to buy something.

Jami Masjid is one of the largest mosques in India.
Constructed in 1571 at the suggestion of Sheikh Salim Chishti, it was the first structure to be built in the whole complex.
It has a central courtyard which can accommodate ten thousand men at prayer.

The Masjid-i Jehan-Numa (lit. 'World-reflecting Mosque'), commonly known as the Jama Masjid of Delhi, is one of the largest mosques in India. It was built by the Mughal Emperor Shah Jahan between 1650 and 1656, and inaugurated by its first Imam, Syed Abdul Ghafoor Shah Bukhari.
Best place to visit , enjoyed a lot there with my friends.Wish to visit this place again with my family🙂.

As a Muslim visiting mosques is always mesmerising especially for a masterpiece built almost 500 years ago.

The design to details and architectural finish shows determination and devotion.

Its a big open prayer hall you can take your wudhuu and pray two rakat or just stop for a dua (dont forget me in yours).

May Allah accept your duas..

The Jama Masjid is a 16th-century congregational mosque in the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Fatehpur Sikri in Uttar Pradesh, India. Constructed by Mughal Emperor Akbar, it is one of the largest mosques in India. It is the most sought after pilgrimage site by the devotees. It is also one of the most visited tourist destinations in Agra district. Some of the designs of the mosque reflect beautiful Iranian architecture.
Akbar commissioned the Jama Masjid as part of his new capital city of Fatehpur Sikri. The structure was one of the first sites constructed in the city, and was completed sometime between 1571 and 1574, according to its own inscriptions. The mosque was in honour of the Sufi Shaikh Salim Chishti, Akbar's spiritual advisor. It was also meant to serve as a khanqah (monastic school) for the Shaikh's descendants. In its time, it was extolled by various authors and travellers for its beauty and grandeur.

The mosque played a part in Akbar's religious designs. In 1579, he delivered the khutbah for a congregational prayer attended by the inhabitants of Fatehpur Sikri. While some of his ancestors had done this, the reading of the khutbah was typically reserved for religious leaders (such as an imam) and hence was perceived by the ulema as radical. Akbar also joined the population in their prayer, and was even seen sweeping the floors of the mosque. Kavuri-Bauer argues that all these actions were conscious moves on Akbar's part, using the mosque to portray himself as a divine sovereign rather than a regular ruler.

The Jama Masjid at Fatehpur Sikri remained a "symbol of Mughal heritage and pride" after Akbar's rule. The mosque was heavily admired by Akbar's son and successor Jahangir, who called it one of his father's greatest architectural achievements. Jahangir discussed the mosque complex at length with his son Khurram during a stay at Fatehpur Sikri in 1619.Khurram went on to become Mughal Emperor Shah Jahan, and cited this mosque as the model for his own Jama Masjid at Delhi.

Beautiful mughal architexture mosque looks similar to other jama masjids built by the mughals. Has the mazar of salim chisti and many graves of people belonging to his family are buried here. Be careful of the guides. We hired a government certified guide at the bus stand of the government hotel. He showed us the Fort but then handed us over to his father to show us the jama masjid. This was a trick to extract extra money from us but it failed as we didn't fall for it make sure you say nothing extra is going to be paid. Also do not buy anything inside the masjid all the item are heavily overpriced the government hotel from which the buses go to the fatehpur sikri Fort have much better deals and prices do bargain. Beautiful sandstone and marbel carved structures a truly majestic building.
