Beautiful mosque near Pakka Pul on Sitapur Road. When you visit Imambara, Don't forget to visit it. It is situated at walking distance from Imambara.

I had a small visit in the evening. A very beautiful Mosque in the beautiful city of Lucknow. Teele Wali Masjid is quite peaceful place to offer prayers. An attractive spot to spend some quality time especially in prayers and remembrance of the Almighty. At night, it looks more beautiful and aesthetic when it glows in light. Overall a great place. 👌🏼

This is a heritage mosque located in the heart of Lucknow,on the banks of River Gomti. It is know as teele wali masjid because is stands tall on a teela(a raised area above ground level). It is believed that once the Mughal Emperor Aurangzeb offered prayers in this masjid when he was passing from Lucknow. This is the most famous Sunni Mosque in whole Lucknow.

Teele Wali Masjid, also known as Alamgiri Mosque, is located to the north of the Imambara complex and is believed to be the earliest construction in the area. It is built on a mound specially raised by order of Aurangzeb, governor of Lucknow, to serve as the mosque ground. An interesting fact is that “teele” is translated form the local dialect as “mound”. Teele Wali Masjid is renown for its outstanding architectural symmetry and equilibrium. Its white lace towers rise high and can be seen from the most parts of the city.

On the bank of river Gomti near the Hardinge Bridge, most popularly known as Pakka Pul or the Laal Pul, stands a beautiful mosque known as the Jami Masjid or Teele Wali Masjid. The exquisite monument is sur rounded by the Bada Imambara, Rumi Darwaaza. The entry to the campus of the mosque is adjacent to the Laal Pul. This mosque has been attracting thousands of people not only from Lucknow but from adjacent cities and states. On the occasion of Namaaz-e-Alvida or Juma'tul Vida (the last Friday of the Holy month of Ramzan), the number of people attending the prayer is considered to be the largest in the city. This beautiful mosque was constructed by the Mughal governor during the reign of Emperor Aurangzeb (1658-1707).
