Lakhs of people cutting across religious and caste lines from different parts of the country and even abroad, throng the Dargah every year seeking the blessings of Hazrat Sayyad Shah Afzal.
According to a popular legend, Hazrat Sayyad Shah Afzal Biyabani, born in 1793 AD, became the darling of the masses through his teachings and was popular among them for his miracles. People believed that he could cure diseases and help them lead a normal live. The day he left his physical form on Safar 26, 1856 AD, his followers and devotees raised a dargah and began Urs (celebrations).
As a part of arrangements, sanitation, supply of water, electricity, security and repairs on the road from Fatima bridge to Dargah along with flood lights have been arranged for around Rs 2.10 crore at the Dargah and nearby places.
Meanwhile, district Collector Amrapali Kata asked the officials of the Greater Warangal Municipal Corporation (GWMC), Kakatiya Urban Development Authority (KUDA) and electricity officials, to complete all the works before November 20.
Dargah pontiff Kushroo Pasha said that all the arrangements were made to prevent any stampede during the celebrations.
Commissioner of Police G Sudheer Babu informed that CCTV cameras would be installed at different corners of the Dargah to oversee the security of the devotees round the clock. He also assured to deploy women police constables at the Dargah as women in large numbers attend the celebrations.
Deputy Chief Minister Kadiyam Srihari also inspected the arrangements at the Dargah along with local MLA D Vinay Bhaskar and Mayor N Narender.
