Mahatma Gandhi Mandapam

Mahatma Gandhi Mandapam is very near to Kanyakumari beach, built in the honor of Gandhiji(our father of the nation).
The view of the Sea and Thiruvalluvar statue from upstairs of Gandhi Mandapam looks wonderful.
Admiring feature here is that the building is constructed in the way that, on 2nd October (Birth Day of Gandhiji) sunlight falls exactly on the place where his ashes are kept.

Mahatma Gandhi Memorial in Kanyakumari is a popular tourist hotspot constructed in the year 1956. It was built in the memory of preeminent Indian leader, Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi, who is popularly known as the Father of the Nation.

After Indian nationalist Mahatma Gandhi was tragically assassinated in 1948 his remains were cremated and sent to various parts of the country to honor various mourning events. One such place was the town of Kanyakumari where a portion of his ashes were put on display before being ritually deposited in the sea. After the ashes were removed, a memorial mandapam (a pillared structure used for public ritual) was built on the site where his ashes had rested.

This is located near the shores of Kanyakumari. The opening timings of Gandhi Memorial are from 7 AM to 7 PM. There is no entry fee for Mahatma Gandhi Memorial. However, you are required to pay a minimal amount of ₹3-4 per persons footwear for keeping the footwear outside the memorial as footwear are not allowed inside the memorial. Another feature of Gandhi Memorial is the view of the surrounding areas from the top of the memorial that is breathtaking. So take your time while visiting Gandhi Memorial and spend some time watching the captivating view. This calm and serene place will be loved. Don't forget to visit the library showcasing books, magazines, pamphlets and other kinds of literature from the pre independence times.

What a lovely place on the shores of Kanyakumari. It is extremely peaceful and you can sit in the shade outside of the main room where pictures are kept. It is just amazing. It has pictures of major life events of Gandhi ji which is also quite fascinating nonetheless. Definitely must visit.

Architecture of the building is mesmerizing. Beautifully designed. There are photographs of Gandhi all around inside walls. Good place to visit

Memorial dedicated to the great Mahatma Gandhi. Have a good display of photos and time line of his life. The view from top of the Mandapam is also a must see.

The view we get from this museum is mesmerizing. About the museum : Free entry, not crowded, a place to relax from the heated up sun, photographs of Gandhiji and his life history. They don't showcase any belongings of Gandhiji.

Nice place very peaceful. It's open in the morning from 7:00 am to 7:00 pm. There are no entry fees but you have to pay for footware because shoes are not allowed.
