It's a piss-spot, a garbage dump and a fascinating show of lovely liquor bottles arranged in an awestruck manner. Such a historical place needs some attention by the government IMHO.

This monument represents the fortified town of Pondicherry during the year 1748. This represents the ‘Villenour Gate’ during that time this was placed in commemoration of the Golden Jubilee Celebration of Pondicherry independence from the French rule. Kameeswarar / Sri Kokilambigai Vudanurai Sri Thirukameswarar Temple is the major landmark in the Villianur / Villianour town. Arikamedu is near this place, and this is former Chola port city dating from the 1st Century BC with a large number of Roman artifacts.
