Baranda Grain Market

It is beautifully covered with three huge gates erected in 1876

This place is more than just a grain market. It’s beautiful square compound surrounded by buildings. Some of the buildings are new but most have an old style architecture. The gates to this complex are large stone structures and are an attraction in themselves. The shops in the buildings and in the compound sell food grains, raw spices, utensils, clothes etc. Some vegetable vendors also set up their shops in the open area.
This place remains especially crowded on Sunday when a large number of vendors and buyers come to this market and the adjoining commercial area.
