The library was Estd in Dec 1897 and Registered in 1938.
Dr. Bidhan Ch. Roy then CM of WB inaugurated the library building.
Dr. Harendra Kumar Mukherjee (later became Governor of WB) was the president in 1938.
Later Naresh nath Mukherjee ( Mayor of Kolkata 1952 , 1953, 1954) also became it's president.

Review :
Well maintained, neat and tidy. Nice place to spend a quiet evening for reading.
Unlike other public libraries this library hosts a list of Cultural activities like Art class, Dance class, Painting competition, Saraswati puja, Food festival to name a few and Social obligations like organising Blood donation camp and Oxygen parlour during covid times.
Kudos to the management team for keeping the place in good shape.
As a former resident of this area I'm very happy to see these positive developments.
