Just will find some lame reason for not paying claim.
I enrolled my mother in their Medi-Classic Gold plan with a premium of 27,000 per year. It's a complete cashless policy which is the reason for the high premium.
I paid the amount for 3 consecutive years that amounts to Rs 81,000 without making even a single claim. When I first enrolled the policy, the agent was speaking with sugar coated words that I need to disclose only the pre-existing diseases of my mother for which I need to wait for 4 years.
He said pre-existing diseases means the ones that my mother is currently suffering from. So, I mentioned all the diseases my mother was suffering from at that time.
A few days back, my mother was hospitalised for a condition that's not in the list of pre-existing diseases I mentioned in my policy. So, I was hopeful that the expenses would be taken care by the company.
To my dismay, they not only rejected my entire claim amount of Rs 2.37 lakhs but also went ahead and cancelled my policy stating that I didn't disclose an old cerebrovascular accident my mother had about 2 years prior to the policy enrollment.
I asked the official what's the difference between "disease" and "accident". I also asked him what's the difference between "existing" and "existed".
Then he taught me a different English which is followed by Star Health. According to the English taught to him by Star Health, pre-existing diseases means "any condition, ailment, injury, or disease" that's just "diagnosed" by a doctor.
So, if you fell down while cycling and had a bruise on your knee, you have a pre-existing disease according to Star Health's English even if the wound is completely healed and no longer visible.
If you didn't disclose it, they will reject your claim and cancel your policy.
BTW, this is just one example. Their unique English has many such aspects and your claims will be rejected some way or the other.
My mail to their top did not draw any attention. I'm cancelling my policy with them
