Alka Hotel

location of the hotel is excellent, but it requires 15 minutes walk from Godawlia chawk to reach the hotel since no conveyance is allowed through this area.
A C. room is fine but T.V.in non AC room didn't work during our stay. Drinking water is not provided by the hotel , one has to purchase it. Otherwise it was a pleasant place to stay in.

Location : The best... enjoy sacred River Gangama darshan through out your stay.
Food : Tasty, delectable and flavourful
Service : Is normally above standards except during heavy influx of guests
Rooms : Maintained very well.
Staff : is humble and helpful.

Although location of the hotel is much away from main road and there is no other way except walking a distance of approximately 600 meters with your luggage but the behavior of all staff is superb here and also the food quality of the restaurant. They are always ready for any help. The hotel is just beside Ganga River.

The quality is the most important feature of this hotel. Normal hotels usually charge minimal fees for providing only the most basic service, and the luxury hotels is more focus on rich travelers can be very expensive. Most of basic hotels just offer one-bedroom units and the room is small, but higher-level hotels will have big suites. Both of them have clients, just different in serve emphasize. .

Mixed experience with this hotel.

Good things first: beautiful Ganga view. Very close to gate number2.

Negatives: you have no choice but to walk 2 km and sometimes jam packed narrow gully.
Note: No auto, rickshaw Or cab allowed to this area. Some of the rooms have common toilet and bathrooms.

Excellent staff with polite people.
book view room if you get one for awesome view.
Food take time if you order, but you get hygienic tasty food.
10 mins walk is mandate to reach hotel, hotel send helpers to carry luggage.

We booked an AC room for 4 nights. But we were given a non-AC room on the excuse of winter season and non-availability of AC room. There is huge difference between the rates of those rooms. After a lot of arguments, we were given AC room but after one day. The first day we had to spend in non-AC room which is quite smaller. We had to shift to AC room on the 2nd day and because of this we had to change our entire schedule of visiting Varanasi. Moreover, one day before our check-out, we were asked to vacate the room by mistake. This shows the pathetic condition of hotel management. This kind of situation I never experienced before. However, the rooms are very neat and clean. The food quality is fresh and outstanding in its restaurant and price is moderate. Location wise it is excellent just on the bank of the Ganges. The cons are that there is no lift facility and there are steep stairs outside the hotel because of which it may cause some trouble to senior citizens. It is a distance away from the auto/Toto stand and requires to walk through narrow lanes to reach the hotel.

Be prepared to walk atleast a km on narrow lanes with luggage as this place is not accessible by vehicles..The front desk reception staff is not very polite, the air con was not switching on and when asked, the front desk staff asked me why I needed Aircon in winter 😡 He did not fix it. same response for TV (dth not recharged)Asked for extra bed, they got annoyed that I asked at 10 pm (although they knew we were 3 guests staying) but eventually gave it..the restaurant served good hot and fresh food catering to our dietary needs.Highlights - Ganga / Ghat facing, Great views for photography, good restaurant, Kashi Vishwanath temple is 3 min walkCons - Some rude staff, Accessibility by vehicle very very limitedAverage stay. not very happy, not very upset
