The Griffon's Nest

We stayed here in 2018–19 for 10 days. We chose this hotel because it is away from the crowded Gangtok places. We enjoyed walking down the curves to the main market and return by taxi. The food is amazing, staff is very friendly. The owner requested us to cut the new year cake and all the staff members were present. The view from the terrace is amazing. When my husband planned to bring me here for my 50th birthday this year, we again chose this hotel. Everything is same, same good food, good staff, clean rooms, good wifi. Recommended for those who want to stay away from the crowd.

it was a decent room, the food was decent (bit overpriced but so are all hillstatiom hotels) the view from the balcony is surreal.
the bathroom is big and spacious with hot water available.
the only drawback was no heater was provided.
it was fun, no restrictions on drinking or smoking in the room. they make nathula passes as well. overall a good experience.

The rooms are quite good but what diffentiate this hotels with others is their staff. The staffs are really good and very helpful specially Suraj Bhai. He is the one stop solutions to all the problems. He has arranged all our trips to lachen,lachung, nathula,and local sightseeing. Thank you Suraj Bhai for taking care of us during our stay and arranging all the trip so nicely.

We had stayed there for 2 days and the experience was really awesome. The room was clean, the bedsheets, the bathroom, the blankets everything was in perfect condition. They served freshly cooked food. This hotel is situated in a location called upper Chandmari quite away and at a greater height than main Gangtok city. The major sightseeing locations around Gangtok (except MG marg) are very near from this hotel. Also road to Nathula Pass is hardly 200 metres from this hotel. The hotel restaurant has a small library from where you can pick a bunch of books on the culture and heritage of Sikkim and also it's geography and history. For kids and adults there are board and card games. It was a breathtaking view in the morning sipping a cup of tea and sitting in the balcony of the hotel. Staffs were really helpful. The forever young chef Suraj Bhai specially, he was really helpful whether arranging for our day trips or serving the food with less waiting time. He is one stop solution in the hotel.

Hotel location is very odd. it is very far from the locality, surrounding of this hotel you will not get any option of food restaurant and for that you have to depend on hotel. Food cost is very high in hotel. Every time you have to reserve car to go market and it will cost 1200minimum for up and down. Sometimes you have to wait long to get any vehicle. And hotel didn't have any room service and staff behaviour also not good. Overall staying experience is very bad I will suggest in this budget you will get hotel in proper market area.

I stayed here for 56 days and let me tell you, this is the best place to stay in gangtok. Staff will treat you like a family, view is awesome, rooms are huge. Its peaceful, everything you desire for a vacation home. Ganesh tok is less than 1Km, organic view point is almost 2Km, Hanuman tok is 3.5 Km and and Tashi view point is less than 4Km. Almost every tourist spot in gangtok is within this hotel's neighborhood. Highly recommended.

It was a pleasant stay.. rooms were near and clean. The hotel placed around 5 km above the MG MARG as a result you can enjoy the view. We stayed there around 5 days and liked the hotel staff. They were amazing and provided good services. The food served from the restaurant was also delicious.
The terrace garden is add on factor where you can have your meals while watching the scenery especially the sunset view. I would definitely visit the same hotel whenever will plan for gangtok in future.
They provided nearby rooms as we booked two rooms for our families including 3YO kid. The chef was so good that he especially made sure that whatever he is preparing for us should also go with the kid for e.g less spices and oil. You can stay here if you are with your family or friends. I would definitely recommend this hotel who are planning to visit gangtok.

Griffon's Nest is a solemn retreat located high above the rest of the Gangtok city and the tranquility and hospitality of this dwelling is what one needs to unwind and recharge oneself. The views from this hotel is a treat for the eyes if you happen to stay in the view rooms, else the terrace for the folks who do not get the view rooms. The whole management is quite helpful, friendly and eager to help you out. The extra cost (if any) you pay in local taxis is compensated by the reasonably priced rooms, beautiful views and a friendly atmosphere. A must for the birds who love to fly at higher altitudes.
