Narayan Niwas is one of the only real heritage hotels in Jaisalmer. My experience there was absolutely fabulous.. the staff is warm and welcoming.. the rooms are pretty, and comfortable, with recently revamped plumbing and maintenance. The hotel has all the modern amenities, while keeping the old-world charm intact. The hotel provides a spectacular view of the entire city and the Fort and you should most certainly plan one evening of drinks on the terrace restaurant to watch the city light up as the sun sets. The owners are of royal descent, and despite the otherwise strongly hierarchical structure of society, are very down-to-earth and friendly, doing the rounds to make sure their guests are comfortable. The hotel could work, perhaps, on the maintenance of their swimming pool, but that's a minor glitch, given the rest of the majestic hotel ambience. :)

This is an old palace converted into hotel. The property is beautiful with very impressive ambiance.
Their is a swimming pool but it was closed when I went. They have complementary breakfast which was just above average.
Coming to rooms, the beds are comfortable and blankets are cozy. Every room has a big mirror which makes the room look beautiful. The bathroom has a bath tub with 24-hr hot water. The problem with room is that it doesn't have ANY charging slots, so you'll have to use TV sockets which are a bit inconvenient. The toilet doesn't have a jetspray so it's a problem for people who don't like to use toilet papers. The staff is okayish in behavior.
When we visited, there were traditional Rajasthani singers performing from evening.
Overall it was a new and nice experience of living in a palace.

The ambience and the hotel architecture is unique in style. All stone construction. It had a unique indoor swimming pool but not in use due to the cold climate. The room service and house keeping may not be available on call but a call to reception desk will resolve the issue for you. We were pleasantly surprised when the hotel gave us the complimentary full fledged early breakfast at 6:30 am on the checkout date as part of the team had to travel to Jodhpur early morning. Lack of electrical plug point in the room and no hand shower in toilet was the only other constraint. It is located at optimum distance from the market area. Vehicle parking space is limited.

We enjoyed this haveli style hotel, located right at the entrance of town, not far from the car parking. There is a cozy sitting area under the porch along the inner courtyard and the room was very spacious and quiet. At the end of the afternoon they had traditional live music playing around the courtyard which was nice. We did not try the breakfast as we left very early.

Excellent piece of ancient Architectural , Well maintained heritage property. Big and spacious rooms with nice decor. Courtyard area is the best part of palace. It remains busy and looks very beautiful in evening as all cultural programs happens here. We enjoyed the dinner while watching evening dance program. The food and service both were really appreciable and decent. Also almost all visiting places are very close. Perfect place to stay.

The location of the hotel is great, walking distance from famous havelis of Jaisalmer which are major attraction of Jaisalmer, jaisalmer golden fort is best view available from this place, actually the cliff on which Narayan Niwas palace is based, that is highest point after fort so great view all day.

evenings in the roof top is a great and fairy tale affair, you just enjoy the best of view one experience in movies only. 360 degree view one can get.

we were upgraded to courtyard room and this room was classy with full size glass wall towards the courtyard outside.

food is great. there are multiple sitting options like near reception, near restaurant , central courtyard, gallery outside rooms , roof top. swimming pool.

enjoyed our stay at fullest with fabulous great evening spent at the rooftop.
will visit again.

PATHETIC EXPERIENCE.

Poorly maintained property, Unhygienic rooms, untrained staff.

Our experience: The moment we entered the hotel(Check-in Dec 26), we found the hotel to be very unorganised. It seemed the hotel was clearly not ready to serve the guests. To our surprise, a rude manager(happens to be owner as well), helped us help ourselves check in to the rooms which were untidy and dusty, with stains on bedsheets and pillows, dead spiders in the bathtub and cigarette buds in our washroom.. the locks were broken and hanging outside with wires in the room, gave enough "room" for us enjoy the SHOCKING EXPERIENCE.

Keeping our luggage inside we moved out to the hotel restaurant which was good for nothing(staff and eating area was also messed up).

When we approached the Manager(owner) - his highness told us that we have given hotel rooms on discounts so we should expect a lot, with itne mein itna milega kinda attitude.

Will never visit again.

Historic hotel to live in with luxurious facilities and a great history behind. Got to know the history behind this place and it is 250 year old and the first hotel in Jaisalmer to offer luxurious safari. This is the hotel who brought tourism in Jaisalmer. Great breakfast.
This place is used for filming Hollywood and Bollywood movies and albums.
