Great place yet lesser known. We enjoyed the hospitality of the family and food was one of the best I have ever experienced in Nagaland (Even vegetarians can relax here). It is ideally located near Kigwema, not very far from both Hornbill Festival Venue, as well as the Dzukou Valley Trek. Book yourself or just go there for better deals rather than booking some package through agents.

I don’t mind humble; I recently stayed at the Nongriat Community Guesthouse in Meghalaya, which has slot toilets, no running water and limited screening. However, it is exactly as advertised.
Vicha guesthouse is not. It is clean, incredibly well-located by the Hornbill Festival and the women who cook are very friendly and welcoming.
Vicha advertises hot and cold running water, room service and satellite TV. And it has a slew of good recommendations, among the reasons that we chose to book our stay here.
The reality is: no heat inside the rooms except for radiant space heaters. The room never warms because of a permanent screen to the outdoor; the water geyser is insufficient for two buckets baths after 30
Minutes and no locks on the door. Our 4th day, we were given a padlock after a group complained and left. The TV is located in the family area. We left on our 5th day although we were booked for 9. No refund.
On arrival, we were told - there is no room service, you are family here and you should feel free to get what you need. The reality: a cold breakfast room, cold fried eggs piled in a vacuum box, cold fried white bread and jam. Sticky rice one morning. And pretty good chai.
I didn’t enjoy my stay there but the Hornbill Festival is extraordinary and it’s well located. I felt cheated as they advertised one thing and delivered another. It was 48 degrees inside the room. It may be charming during warmer weather and you can always eat elsewhere. If you decide to stay here anyway, enjoy.

I want to give 10 * for this homestay. This place is too good for everyone. Both solo traveller and family can stay there with all good vibes. And one of the good thing about that place, the owner of the homestay is a kind hearted and helpful person. The place is too hygiene and location is also good, just walking distance from kisama hornbill village. And you guys can enjoy the bonfire also if you wish 😍😍. Breakfast is complementary and food is available there with a reasonable price 👌.
Thanks Mr. Zhato and his team 🏠

After having a great journey from Dzukou valley, we have decided to stay one night in a nearby village. Our cab driver suggested to stay at Khigwema village. Even he helped with this homestay details. Such great gesture from the members of the homestay is more than our expectation.
The rooms are consisting with two rooms and they have alloted each room for two guests. The washrooms are clean and hygienic as well.
They have provided great dinner and breakfast as well.
The atmosphere of the dining room mesmerize everyone of us.
The cost per member is also cheap.
The experience was great for us.

This is a small, boutique guest house, run seasonally by the owner Mr. Zhato himself. This is situated in the village of kigwema and the good part about it is it provides employment to the local villagers, who double up as wait staff, run the kitchen and manage the rooms. I visited during the Hornbill festival, and although the rooms were not cheap, it was worth the money, with free breakfast, a proper bed and heater and attached bathrooms( in the high priced rooms). Breakfast usually has some toast, eggs, porridge and fruits with some tea, nothing fancy but quiet filling. The owner is also fairly knowledgeable about the area and he helped us with the ILP permits. Overall a pleasant experience and would like to revisit someday soon.

Really a good homestay at a decent price. But please do not expect 3 star luxury, but you stay is going to be great with the kind of care and attention from host and the food they offer. Enjoyed my stay.

An humble place to stay when visiting for Hornbill Festival. It is about 3kms / 10 min drive from Naga Heritage village hence very convenient. The owner is very welcoming and warm.
