At last Jalpaiguri has a decent Eye Care centre equipped with all modern amenities and efficient doctors. Thanks to Dr. Swarup Kumar Roy and his team.

To book appointment for Dr. Swarup Roy is a nightmare here. Booking time is only 9:00 AM to 9:30 AM and most of the time numbers are busy. No alternate way. This is horrible. Staffs are not able to provide any alternate solution. It is better to book appointment in Siliguri instead of Jalpaiguri branch.

Good professional doctors visits on their respective days. This place has a good step by step procedure to look into each patient. There are optometrists and other people available to assist.
Prior appointment is necessary. Overall good.

I have visited Himalayan eye institute in Jalapaiguri and i had a terrible experience. Called many times there were no answer or the cell number advertised was switched off, I had to come down to enlist my name , finally i have been told there would be a retina specialist available at 12:00, i had a minor eye infection and after describing i have been told i can consult the doctor.
Respecting time i was here sharp at 12:00 , after waiting almost an hour i have been told my number is 37 and they don’t know how long i have to wait or they denied to disclose which patient number the doctor is currently treating . Similar situation with others i could observe.
Anyhow after enquiry i got to know they have to use some eye-drop before visiting the retina specialist all the waiting is to c how it respond.

My concern:
What is the point of having a phone number printed and then having it switched off or not answer.
For my case a retina specialist was not required and still i have been recommended, receptionist needs to be educated not to furnish false information.
Secondly i was told to come at 12:00 and after waiting for an hour i got to know all this information, which i should get beforehand and should have been explained to me prior taking the consultation charges . Once you pay there is no refund anyway.
While politely asking the receptionist the answers came very rude , as if they are doing a favour to me by giving out the information .
Finally a gentle man walked up to me and explained all the process.

But i am not satisfied with the way i was treated or misinformed. I would not recommend the Jalpaiguri branch to anyone. Felt it was commercial organization not a medical institute.

The behaviour of Mr. Saurav in Jalpaiguri Himalayan Eye institute is very poor. He doesn't know how to behave with the patient and their acquaintances.
