The cottage nigeen

Stayed recently...for 3 nights from 20/3/22 to 22/3/22.....We had mixed experiences. The location, greenery, wooden works in each room and calmness are fascinating features of Cottage Nigeen/ Nigeen cottage . But need some modifications in bath fittings and immediate improvement in culinary sections; despite I live on simple menu with simple food they failed to satisfy our taste buds !!.. There was a confusion & mess up in the BOOKING Process as they failed to fulfill the Commitment for providing 2 Best Rooms despite we Booked Rooms well in Advance as per given directions of the Owner!!... Sometimes small issues mark the difference between the Best and Good!!.....It has the potentials to be the Best, in SRINAGAR as Homestay, if they sort out their lacking at the earliest with more assuring approach and more cordial cooperation!!... Hope for the best for this Homestay in near future !

When you enter this really narrow lane close to the Nigeen Lake, you might think you've made the wrong choice, but when the gates of Cottage Nigeen open to an expansive garden you actually forget you entered through this narrow lane in a secluded place. If you really want to enjoy the essence of Kashmir- think khatamband ceilings, Tall Chinar trees, magical flowers, soothing breeze, orchards- then you should stay in these Home stays. Cottage Nigeen has heritage rooms that have great views of a very beautiful garden, chinar trees and lush green lawns. The owners- Mrs Shakeela and caretakers- Tahira and MoArfat- are all very sweet. They looked really well after us. When you stay here, you feel peaceful and I would advice people to treat this place with the care and love it deserves. Rooms have toiletries, drinking water and heaters are provided. Bathroom has 24×7 hot water. The common Living room is vintage and spacious. Do have a meal in the covered sit out in the garden.

Place was really amazing.
However our time and requests weren't respected.
Morning even though we had 2 hours time to check out, owner was asking to keep the things out so that their next guest can come in, it felt really bad.
We had requested the caretaker lady if she cook heat the food which we had bought by ourselves with some rice (paid food) , rice was not at all eatable n our breads were burnt n weren't eatable too.
Place is really amazing, though people n caretaker weren't approachable.

It is a beautiful location and very sweet and co operative hosts. If you are lucky you will see the best apple gardens in the cottage area. Beautiful green exteriors and warm and cozy wooden interiors!! I totally recommend.
P.s. its a little remotely located so commute might be a little difficult.

Clean. Very homely. All wooden interiors almost takes you back in time. Friendly and warm host. Only reason for not giving a 5 star, would be the location. Far off from the main city, and dal lake.

Wonderful stay near Nigeen lake. Well maintained Homestay with cleanliness and great food quality.

One of the best place to stay in nigeen. Well maintained place and amazing food is the highlight. Also the people here are so lovely. They have very spacious rooms and I think for couples, family and group this is one of the best suited place

The host of the property, Shaqila Ma'am, is a Super Super Host! Great Property. Calm and Quiet. Amazing Decor. All facilities provided in the room. The place has an outdoor garden. Self-Service. Homely Vibe. Courteous Staff. And the Food prepared over here was amazing. The host would help you with the sightseeing tours as well as arranging for cabs and autos if required. You are in safe hands with them.
