This temple premise has 1main and about 20-25 other temples. This temple is dedidcated to भगवान शिव. Temple गर्भगृह has शिवलिंग just like the शिवलिंग in केदारनाथ temple.
Before going to केदारनाथ lord शिव stayed here. So the place is called basukedar.This temple was temple built by Shankaracharya.
The other temples in the premise are of various Gods and Goddess including local deities.
The temple premise has also a hostel for students of संस्कृत school. This Sanskrit school was built in 1971.

The ancient temple in its almost original form, preserved for maybe 1000s of years for us to visit and enjoy. Located in a very remote village of the same name, around 40 KMs from Rudraprayag. The last mile of around 70 meters has a steep slope with narrow lanes to reach & return is little difficult for oldies. A must visit place, even if not for worshipping or pilgrimage but to understand our past, how people located & built those marvelous architectural monuments, for the rest of the generations to pay their homage to their ancestors.

Historical and ancient place dedicated to Lord shiva. One night stay God shiva here then it's name basukedar. Peaceful place.

Nice and peaceful location which has its history. The temple is located in a forest area with so many trees around. I felt very bad after seeing the condition of the temple, I urge the Uttarakhand government to rehabilitate this temple which has importance as per Hindu mythology.
