Apart from being an ancient nice holy place there are two things which makes it different. First is the presence of tens of sadhus who will tell your nature and future just by some observation and that is always something interesting. Second is one large musical tabla kind of thing kept at one corner which creates a nice sound. Don't miss to hit it once with your palms.

Shri Bhairavnath, popularly known as Kaal Bhairav, is the commander of Lord Shiva's ghost army. He's often seen in scriptures and paintings to be riding a dog. You'll find a lot of stray dogs sleeping in the temple and devotees feeding them. It is said that those who wish to shift to Varanasi and live in the city, they need to give offerings to Shri Kaal Bhairav and seek his permission and blessings. Known to be a fierce warrior, he's also revered for his sense of justice and kindness. The temple is unique and despite being relatively small, has a good amount of architecture inspired from ancient Hindu art forms.

If you are going for the first time ask people the way to the temple or to guide you to the temple.
Because the temple is in the between of the building, shops and restaurants.

Very sacred place of worship. Lord bhairav is the main deity. It is said that it is must to visit this temple after visiting shri kashi vishwanath temple. Shri bhairav is also known as "Kashi ka kotwal". Lord shiva has given him duty to protect kashi. There is no restiction of carrying mobiles.

Shri kaal bhairav temple is caaled Kotwal of kashi. Located in kaalbhairav area, the temple is small but is revered by all. Piligrimage of varanasi is not complete without Kaalbhairav darshan.
The temple pretty ancient one and has survived onslaught on major temples in the are during medieval times by mughals.
Tuesday and sundays are jampacked.

I recommend to visit this mandir early in the morning before gou go to Kashi Vishwanath mandir. The energy of this place is positive and powerful. Indian classical artists can feel Raag Bhairav at this place.
