Very old temple with rich spritual importance. Visited on a Saturday and temple got closed at 1p.m. after 4 p.m temple will be opened again for public. It's one of the 108 Divya desam. It is said to be first three alwars started thiruvandhahi here. Must visit place for people come in a spritual trip. Close to Tiruvannamalai so one who comes to Tiruvannamalai can visit this temple too.

Thirukoilur Ulagalantha Perumal Temple - Rich in culture and heritage; This amazing temple where the initial 4000 Dhivya Prabandhams originated, is in dire straits.

Vegetable vendors have encroached the main entrance and set up shops inside the Temple, that the main entrance itself is blocked. The back entrance is blocked apparently due to maintenance.

It is shocking to see a hundred bats hanging on the Praharam ceiling before reaching the main deity. The stinking smell, the poor lighting, and slippery floors take away any little piety that a visitor would come to the temple with.

It is one of the 108 Dhivya Desams and it is receiving such a treatment. It is appalling to see the callous attitude of everyone associated with the temple who have let it degrade to this state. Oh Lord, Arise, show your splendour and enlighten these mortals !!

Very historic perumal temple. I'm Chennai visited this temple on 13.01.22 which is vaigunda ekadesi, sorka vasal opening day. Blessed to visit this temple on that day. Main gopuram looks majestic. Thenpennai river is flowing near this temple. Must visit if you are temple traveller. Due to COVID restrictions, not able to go around inside too much as already barricades are made to go which ways to all gods inside the temple. This temple is located very near to the bus stand.so transport facilities are very good to reach here.if you are coming to Chennai, come to Villupuram and you will get frequent bus to here. Om namo narayana 🙏.

Never even have a second thought in visiting this wonderful temple, located at Tirukovilur. The temple is awesome and even 1000 eyes is not enough to admire the beauty of the Thiru Vikrama of The Mighty Ulagalantha Perumal Diety. Thayar Sannathi is located seperately within the temple premises. Must Visit, atleast once in life.
From Literature :- One of the Nadu Nadu Divyadesam among 108 Divyadesams, where Sri Ulagalantha Perumal and His Piratti Lakshmi as Sri Poongothai or Sri Poongoval Nachiyar gives their seva. Also, this is the Vaishnavite Temple where the first 3 Alwars namely, Poigai Alwar, Bhoothathalwar and Peyalwar met and rendered the Divya Prabhandha Paasuram on the Perumal.

Moolavar made of deodar wood, simply meant the words pachai maal vannan. Bright eyes of him won't let us go. Vamana moorthy behind the moolasthanam should not be missed. Very beautiful gopala krishna with Bama and rukmani. Must let know the story of this temple when you visit. Check for break timing before visiting.
