Indira Lingam

Arunachal Kshethra Giri (Hill) built by Chola Ki gs in 9th century and there are 8 lingams located surrounded the Arunachal Kshethra at 8 directions and provides an octagonal structure to Thiruvannamalai Town. The eight lingams are: Indra Lingam (East), Agni Lingam (Southeast), Yama Lingam (South), Niruthi Lingam (Southwest), Varuna Lingam (West), Vayu Lingam (North West), Kubera Lingam (North) and Esanya Lingam (North East). Devotees walk all the way round the 14 km path around the hill (called Girivalam in Tamil/
Giri pradakshina) by chanting the names of Lord Vishnu and Shiva which helps you calm down and get rid of anxieties, gives you contentment also to get mental peace and physical health.

good ..but must visit vishnu pratishtitha lingam just behind this street..about 0.5km known as ayyan kulam tank also known as arunagiri nathar temple.it is said ,.if we visit the 3 temple -arunagirinathar temple, mula virat of tiruvannamalai -arunachaleswarar lingam and adi annamalai temple -any wish will come true..each was prathista by 3murthy vishnu, shiva and brahma respectively..but the main purpose to visit tiruvannamalai is mostly brahma gyan ..shiva in each and every one and also in hill..
