A very good temple which was constructed in chola period.
Such a big temple ,there are more lingams available inside.
It comes under paadal Petra sthalam.
The temple car of this temple is biggest in India which is such a massive build.
The lake of this temple is so big.
Temple has parking in all directions of gopurams.
Visible and good space available in west entrance of temple.
The temple needs maintenance,it was so ugly and lighting inside praharams are not visible, low watt bulb. Such a big and wonderful temple but lacks maintenance.
The Ambal here is Kamalambigai which is most powerful here.
Overall a good experience visiting this.
Excellent sculptures and construction.

Thyagaraja Swamy temple is one of the very important temples dedicated to Shiva. It is a very ancient temple with abundance of history, purana, and lores. The temple, its pond and garden are look massive. The main deity here is Vanmeega nathar but processional deity Thyagaraja Swamy is more popular and the temple is known by his name. Vanmeega nathar is swayambhu and emerged from ant-hill. Along with Kanchipuram, Thiruvarur too is praised as Pruthvi sthalam. There are so many sub shrines inside the temple. It will require one full day atleast to view the temple thoroughly. Thyagaraja Swamy here is in worshipped as King and the rituals are performed accordingly. Daily evening worship done to Vidanga lingam is very special. The temple is one of the seven Saptha Vidanga Sthalams and is the first of those temples. There are two Ambals, Kamalambal, is found seated in a unique position, she is the ultimate form of mother Goddess. The other Goddess, Neelothpalambal, is standing with her women attendant who holds Murugan. The temple is hailed as Nithya Pradosha Sthalam (Lord Devendra is believed to perform the daily evening worship) and Sarva Dosha Nivarthi Sthalam (the temple that eliminates all sorts of bad karma). The yearly chariot festival, Panguni Uthiram, Maha Shivratri, Arudra Darshan and Aani Thirumanjanam are important festivals. The temple's chariot is the biggest in the World. The temple has been visited and sung by Nayanmars and several saints. One amongst my most favourite Shiva temples.

A old and traditional place and a very big temple, known for its thiyagraaja association and the number of sivalingas around the the temple. It has some unique features , 25 acre large temple pond right in the center of city. And a temple that is even more bigger.

Very huge and wonderful temple in Tiruvarur. Though there is no hills or mountains or rock how this much granites have come to this location to build this huge temple is surprising. It is really a wonder and unbelievable. Beautiful idols collection in the museum.
Hundreds of duties in this temple. Huge tank with a center temple is great and beautiful.

It is one the largest (in area wise) temple in INDIA. It has the biggest chariot in Asia🔥 and the annual chariot festival will be celebrated during the month of March. The main deity is lord Shiva. We can experience positive vibe in visiting the temple. It will take nore time to cover the whole temple. If you are lover of exploring temples, you must visit and have a look at the beauty of the temple ❤

The temple complex covers 30 acres, and is one of the largest in India. The temple has four large gopurams ( gateway towers). The tallest is the eastern tower, with four stories and a height of almost 100 feet (30 metres). As per records it is seen that the present structure was built during the Chola dynasty in the 9th century, while later expansions were made by Vijayanagar rulers of the Sangama Dynasty (1336–1485 CE), the Saluva Dynasty and the Tuluva Dynasty (1491–1570 CE).

The temple has 100 plus sannidhis (shrines), a record for having maximum number of sannidhis for a temple in India. There are 365 Shiva Lingas representing the days of the year. The two main sannidhis of the temple are for the moolavar (main deity) Sri Vanmikinathar (Lord Siva) and Thyagarajar.Sri Vanmikinathar in the form linga is the most ancient, and derives its name from tha anthill(putru). Poet saint Appar, refers Sri Vanmikinathar in his hymn as 'putru irukondan'(one who resides in the ant hill). The Sthala vriksham(temple tree) is paatiri( fragrant trumpet flower tree - Sterospermum chelonoides).

Here the Navagrahams are located towards south in a straight line also located in northwest corner of first prakaram.

Abishekam is performed only to the Maragatha Linga ( emerald Lingam) known as Veedhi Vidanga Linga, believed to have been worshipped by Indira .Three abhishekams are performed every day. After the abishekams, the Maragatha Lingam is placed in a silver box and then locked in the presence of officials and placed on the right side of Lord Thiagaraja.

In this temple, there are two Chandikesvarars, one known as Chandikesvarar and the other called as Yama Chandikesvarar,The temple has many large mandapams (halls) Rajendra Chola hall, also called as Sababathi hall has a museum of the temple. Some of the major sannidhis in the temple are of Aananthiswarar, Neelothmbal, Asaleswarar, Adageswarar, Varuneswarar, Annamalieswarar and Kamalambal.

Tiruvarur Sri Thiyagaraja Temple.

The Thyagaraja Temple, lies in Tiruvarur town in Tamil Nadu.
It has 365 Shiv Lingams, 86 Ganesha idols and 9 Raja Gopurams.
The foot of Thyagaraja is shown twice a year and on other occasions it is covered with flowers.
Abhishekam for Emerald Lingam. After the Abhishekam is over, the Linga is placed in a silver box with flowers and covered by a silver vessel.
The temple has the largest chariot in Asia. The annual chariot festival of the Thygarajaswamy temple is during the month of April - May.
The chariot festival is followed by the "Theppam", meaning float festival. In this Teppam, 800 persons can be accommodated.
The place where Lord Shiva, as a friend of Sundarar, went to the girl and sought her concurrence for the marriage of his friend.
Nine navagrahas are located in the same straight line.
It has a very large Kamalalayam Tank which occupies 17 acres.
Thiruvarur is the only Temple that has more number of Thevaram hymns, - 353.
This is the place where Manu Neeti Chola killed his son on a chariot for a cow that rang the bell for justice.

One must visit this holy Temple.
