This temple was originally situated in Thiruvilambuthur village, The village was occupied by the government for constrction of Poondi reservoir. The temple was relocated here(Poondi) by the authorities in 1968, with same idols in the erstwhile temple.
Main deity known as Sri Oondreeswarer facing east and Goddess Sri Minnoli Ambal facing south. There are other shrines for Vinayagar,Murugan, and Mahalakshmi.

Saint Sundarer praised the Lord Shiva by Devara hymns.also seen Saint Sundarer in standing posture next to Nandhi with broken horn in front of Oondreedwarer.

This Shiva temple at Thiruvennpakkam is near Poondi reservoir near Thiruvallur. Lord Shiva gave a stick to apostle Sundarar, who lost his eyes for breaking a promise given to Him. Sundara has sung hymns praising the Lord of this temple, in his Thevarams.

Lord's name is Oondreeswarar and His consort is named Minnoliammai. No raja gopuram. No flagpole. Shiva Linga is on a low pedestal. Nandi statue is appearing with a broken right horn, due to the reason that the angered Sundrar threw the stick the Lord gave him, which hit the Nandi. He was disappointed that the Lord gave him a walking stick instead of restoring his eyesight. Sundara statue without eyes could be seen near the bull.

There are also Sannathis for Lord Ganesh, Lord Subrahmanya, Brahma, Durga and Dakshinamurthy.

Anyone going to Poondi reservoir for picnic should definitely visit this temple situated enroute.

Shri Oondrrswarar ஊன்றீஸ்வரர் ஶ்ரீ மின்னொளி அம்பாள் temple near Poondi reservoir is more than 1500 years old temple. One of 276 தேவார பாடல் பெற்ற சிவ தலம் Lord Sivan temple. Actually the temple was located inside the reservoir before the reservoir was built. Later the temple was shifted here stone by stone of original construction. Sri Sundarar lost sight of both his eyes after leaving Thiruvotriyur. Lord Sivan gave a stick ஊன்றுகோல் to walk freely but Sri Sundarar refused and thrown away the stick which fell on Sri Nandhi and broke one of the horn.

The one horned nandi here has a very interesting fable. It's wonderful to see all the kids from the school opposite the temple come here freely to pray and their pure devotion makes the place even more divine. The temple opens only after 8.30am. We reached here by seven and had to wait around for a long time.
