Arulmigu Thiru Parvatheeswarar Temple,Padal Petra Temple

The temple is at Kovilpathu locality in the Karaikal town itself. From Nagapattanam highway take the Thirunallar bypass road and take the next first right to reach the temple.
The temple faces west and the temple tank is just opposite to it across the street. Padal Petra kovil and well maintained. The temple purana states Shiva and her consort turned up as farmers and worked in fields to assist the people who were suffering because of a famine. The event is celebrated as a festival every year. The Panchaloka idols of Shiva and Parvati as farmers are excellent and mainly Shiva idol with the plough held up in the shoulder is really beautiful.

This in Tamil called 'THIRUTHELICHERY". Here Lord shiva along with Godess Parvathy did ploughing sowed paddy when a famine struck in Karaikal.
Every year this is being celebrated. You receive a prasad on that day you will not be deprived of food for the whole year.
