Sarala Temple

Maa Sarala temple or Jhankada Sarala temple is an ancient Shakta temple of about 500 years old is situated in Jagatsinghpur district of Odisha. Many legends are attached with the deity who is regarded as the goddess of knowledge and wisdom. It is about 60 kms from Cuttack and 80 kms from Bhubaneswar. It is only 6 kms from the national highway connecting Cuttack and Paradip. The priests are very polite and help the devotees. Car parking is near the temple but the road of half kilometre just before the temple is very narrow. Devotees can have cooked Prasad inside the temple during noon.

One of the auspicious place. I always feel blessed at this place.

Sarala Ma is considered the presiding deity of Jagatsinghpur and thousands of devotees throng the shrine to witness the Chandan jatara that begins on the day of Akshaya trutiya. The temple is well connected by train.

I've visited the temple. My mother had a wish to wear Saree to Sarala Maa. So we went there, met purohit. They would ask you " where are you from" and the Pooja charges were 1000₹ and sweet, garland 1500₹. Total 2500₹ for Pooja.

Be careful autos needs to reserved, there was no buses available to travel. You need to have either private vehicle or auto to travel there.

This temple of Maa Sarala is one of the most oldest and famous temple in the district of Jagatsinghpur. Temple premises is huge and parking spot is also available in front of the temple. In side the temple there are couple of shops for the devotees to buy puja products like diya, agarbati and many more. The temple area is neat and clean. However, the management must put more effort to develop the temple and the whole premises should be maintained properly.
For communication purpose, there is a nearby railway station and it is located at a distance of 6-7 KM from the Cuttack-Paradeep highway. From Bhubaneswar it is around 80 KM (one way). Also everyday a bus is available from Cuttack to Sarala temple. Else you can travel by Cuttack-Paradeep bus (which is available through out day) and this bus will drop you off at Sarala road and then book a auto to the temple.

Good temple..but the way of looting money is not justified. I bought a prassad inside temple counter. A group of youth is harrassing people and taking money by force in name of village of origin. If u ask reason.. they fight. Pathetic people.

Here is my maternal uncle home so since my childhood I usually went here. This is a place of Maa Adishakti Sarala, so how can I describe it. This is a place of worship. Very beautiful place. One must go here nd get blessings frm Maa nd take prasad if u want then 🤙 cm back easily connected to Bhubaneswar via cuttack, well connected road.
