Beautiful place. There are four Shiva temples.among them three are of 6th or 7th century and one is of 11th century. The irony is that the old temples are in perfect condition where as the newer one is broken. The speciality of the old temples is that these are built on a star shaped mandapa, even the Shakti of the lingam is star shaped. The bimana of the temple is full with intricate carvings

The Rameswara temple, also called Ramanatha temples group, is a large beautiful complex of Hindu temples and monuments near the banks of Mahanadi river and the historic Boudh palace.

The complex has temples from two different periods. The oldest are three Shiva temples from the 8th century, while the rest are from 10th to 12th centuries. The older Shiva temples are special because they are one of about dozen stellate plan major Hindu temples found near the Mahanadi river in Odisha and Chhattisgarh (stellate, or star shaped, is one of four major plans described in historic Sanskrit texts on temple architecture). This plan is most apparent when you look at the shape of the jagati (platform and how the outer walls are shaped all the way to the top). They illustrate the architectural innovations made by Indian artists of the Dakshina Koshala kingdom between the 6th and 8th centuries.

The older temples here are a treasure of intricate carvings. These show secular plus religious scenes such as yoga asanas, men and women dressed in Odiya dresses and doing their daily activities, students studying, amorous couples, festivals, scenes from Hindu Epics and legends, and iconography of different Vedic and Puranic gods and goddesses. The miniature details such as of flowers, animals and birds on the walls are remarkable. Even the ruins and broken panels found at this site show the impressive accomplishments of Odisha artisans from the 8th century.

The later era temples are smaller, simpler and yet add to the charm of the complex. The garden and park is nice to stroll and reflect about the beautiful Boudh region heritage. Near this temples complex are many more temples from the 9th to 15th century, but if I were short of time and could visit only one... I would visit this.
