Pokharni is situated about 18 kilometers from Parbhani, a city in the Marathwada region of Maharashtra. Parbhani, known in ancient times as Prabhavatinagar. This beautiful temple was built around 1000 B.C. to 1300 B.C. The construction of this temple done in Hemadpanthi style. It was built by a king whose girl child was cured of blindness. The idol of lord Narsimha is very beautiful. Temple consist the beautiful two-armed Deity, holding chakra and conch. The Deity is carved in sandstone (walukashma pashan), ornamented with gold kavacham. This golden mask is also known asmukhawata, and is inlaid with diamonds and gems. The lord Narsimha is situated here with Laxmi Devi who is the presiding deity of the world. The entrance is very small, and devotees must squat to see the Lord through a 3 foot high entrance. Lord Nrsimhadeva has a beautifully decorated sleeping room at the front of the sanctum, where a teak diwan and silk bed are located.

Very peaceful place. The prasad lunch was very delicious and free to all. Almost 1500 people enjoyed the lunch. The volunteers served the food with love, affection and respect. Very clean and discipline place. Do help the management to maintain it clean. One can even rest for few hours. Clean and portable water is available. The temple can be approched by a bus, auto or even a train. The train station is near and share autos are available. In a nutshell a must visit place in this region.
