This place is origin of holy river Narmada. Like other rivers in India, Narmada River is also considered as Goddess. This temple is situated where Goddess is at her early child stage. The temple campus comprise many small temples and a kund which is the ultimate source of River Narmada. It is believed that from this kund the water flows underground to Mai Ki Bagiya from where it takes a shape of River.

The origin of Narmada River is from this place. There is a big temple having beautiful architecture, a big and deep pond where one can take a holy dip and few small temples nearby inside the temple campus. Outside the temple at backside of it there is a small elephant made up of rock. People believe that those who have done some wrong deed couldn't get out from beneath the elephant and would be strucked in between it's feet. The prasad, flowers and pooja samagri all is available inside the temple gate. Outside the temple there is also a small market.

Divine place. Narmada kund temples, the origin of the Narmada River is located in the state of Madhya Pradesh.

Amarkantak is a Hindu Tirtha Place, a site where three rivers , the Narmada, the Son and the Johila(Tributary of son) emerge.

The Amankantak region is a unique natural heritage area and is the meeting point of the Vindhya and the Satpura Ranges, with the Maikal Hills being the fulcrum.

The temples other than the white temples are the Ancient Temples of Kalachuri Period, famously known as Trimukhi Temple. It is situated in the South of the Narmada Kund or Narmada temple, just behind it. These were built by Kalachuri Maharaja Karnadeva(1041-1073 AD).
