Sree Pillayar Kovil was consecrated in the year 1835 by the Tamil Vellala Community. It is situated in the heart of Kannur Town, less than 1 k.m. from Kannur Railway Station. The main diety is Sree Varasidhi Vinayagar. The other deities in the temple are Sree Maha Vishnu, Nataraja, Subramania, Ayyappa, Hanuman and Nagaraja. Sree Pillayar Kovil is the first temple in the Malabar region to have the Navagraha Prathishta.
