This is one of the most famous temple in South India for vidhyarambham. This temple is also known as dakshina mookambika. The main deity is Vishnu and saraswathi. Easily accessible location, public bus service available. Weekends are crowded. Navrathri pooja is famous. Nearest town is kottayam. Ample parking space available.

It's a special place. I love going here. The Devi's shrine is unlike any other!

But the 'watcher' named Saji is a rude man who inappropriately behaved with us.

This temple is quite famous and during the days of vidyarambham, kids write here for the first time is a famous ritual. During these day it starts early like 4 am. You can book your slots online so that you get less crowded queue to take.

I would suggest to reach there as early as possible so that you can finish the process quickly. As it goes the place gets heavy crowded and you will have to wait with the baby for a lot of time. We started from home around 3 and reached there around 3:45 and by that time the parking was pretty occupied. We were able to finish the process and darshan in an hour. Overall and very nice experience.

They will take pictures of the event and you can pay them 250 to get 2 copies and even get soft copies if needed.

Great temple. There is ample car parking available however the passway connecting road and parking ground is too narrow and steep. Temple authority can take it as a request for improvement. There aren't much of shops available nearby so be prepared for food and other requirements.

Travellers tip: There is a water Lilly field nearby, very picturesque.

Heavenly atmosphere 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼

Don’t have words to describe about this beautiful temple. The famous dakshina mookambika temple in Kerala belongs to panachikkad, kottayam. Lordess Saraswat and lord vishnu are the main deities, along with Ganapathy, shiva, ayyappa, Naga raja and yakshiamma. The original idol of Saraswati Devi is not visible and it is hidden inside the sacred forest 🌳. Navaratri is the special festival there. Vidyarambam for anyone can be done at anytime. It’s a must visit place for temple lovers.

Panachikadu Dakshina Mookambika temple is located in the Kottayam district of Kerala state. The temple is dedicated to the goddess Mookambika, who is considered to be a manifestation of the Hindu goddess Saraswathi, the goddess of knowledge and learning. The temple is considered to be one of the most important pilgrimage sites for devotees of the goddess and is considered to be one of the 108 Shakti Peethas, sacred shrines dedicated to the goddess Shakti. The temple is also known for its unique tradition of "Vidyarambham," where young children are initiated into the world of letters and learning by writing the word "Om" on grains of rice.

The order of darshanam is as follows. Vishnu followed by Saraswati devi, Lord Shiva, Ganapathi and Shastav, then Yakshi and finally Sarppam. The temple has a nice temple pond on the rear side with nice views of green paddy fields. There are shops.selling devotional books, idols etc.
Ample parking space is available on the front side.
