The main deity here is Muthappan which is an incarnation of lord shiva. Poojas and other ritual followed here are similar to that of Parassinikadu temple at Kannur.

The locality is popularly known after the temple and called "Muthappan kaavu". Situated on the connecting road of Beach Gandhi Road to mini bypas.After the recent road renovation , the temple also got a face lift and is a land mark in the city. The main liturgy is a ritual enactment of Muthappan, performed daily at the Parassinikadavu temple. Most temples in Kerala do not allow non-Hindus to enter; Muthappan temples are said to be much more liberal in this regard.
