Sri Prambalath Kariyathan Bhagavathy temple is situated at Kottoly, one of the major destinations in the heart of Kozhikode. It is considered to be one of the oldest temples in this region.

The Brahmin family resided on the south-west side of this place and worshiped the Naga presence and mountain deity Kariyathanem Bhagavathy in this place. Due to family distress, this Brahmin family was destroyed and the Shudra family - Madat Nair family forcibly took over the rights from these Brahmin family members. Four hundred years ago, those influential family members who had the position of Patanayak brought their relatives from Balusherry side to this Parambalam and settled them with this position and place. Both the families had the Kalari tradition. Raran and Kelan, the two sages, performed Abhyasamuras and Upasanas. In this position, Peetha Sankalpatvena was performed with Kalari Bhagwati along with other deities. Their Gurumurthy was also observed on another floor (north side floor).
