Aluvamkudy Vanchi at Gurunathenmannu Jn.is beautiful and it gives a devotional mood to every pilgrim who wants to go and visit Aluvamkudy Sree Mahadever temple wich is as old as Sabarimala Temple.The Aluvamkudy Sivarathri festival is the most important religious function going on from the beginning.As heard from natives of Gurunathenmannu,the temple was found out by a hunter ,late Mr.Kunju Kunju,Mallampalli,in the midst of his hunting attamts in midnight,1952 as he said.Then the temple was covered by wild creeping plants and temple was not at all visible.But he felt some divine powers hooking him to the temple ground.He lost his conscious mind and wandered many rounds around the temple ground.Finally he walked behind a holy light in front of him and at length the light disappeared.Then he was at the front of his home 9 Km.away from Aluvamkudy.Next day he collected some people and reached at Aluvamkudy and they could find the Temple Foundation.This is the story behind the Aluvamkudy temple discovery.The procession to Aluvamkudy temple in connection with Sivarathri is starting from Gurunathenmannu.
