A good place to calm the mind with a peaceful atmosphere. Everyone you'll meet here are friendly and approachable. This place will get you peace of mind, regardless of your faith.

A historical temple situated originally in the centre of a vast paddy field. But sorry to say, there is no paddy field to be seen in the vicinity now. The famous varakkara pooram is conducted by the people's Samudayams every year most probably on the14th of January. The people of varandarappilly, Varakkara, Nandipulam, Vadakkummuri, Pookode etc. collects a stipulated sum as poorapirivu from the member families of each samudayam. The samudayas are basicaly committed to the temple and deity, Varakkra Bhagavathy. At present there are 23samudayas in total and competing each other. The pooram is wellknown for the number of elephants patticipating in the "Ezhunnallippu"which went up to 42during the last year. Pooram is being conducted by the people in around Varandarapilly, especially the ezhava community with great relevance and reverence.

It's a temple of goddess Bhagavathi and also the surrounding is very calm. Best time to visit is during the pooram which is on jan 14. During pooram the place is very crowded.

Good memories of my childhood belongs to the surroundings of this temple. The right compound wall of temple had a very large paddy fields, years ego. I used to play there, now it's all changed. The Varakara pooram is a pride of people from Amballur to Chimmini Dam. A vast area is divide into dhesams(small areas),they compete at every year in elephants, kavadi(a special entertainment show with large wooden kavadi like pookavadi,Bhasma kavadi..)Chenda melam and unity&uniformity in dhesham.
