This place is famous by name ಯಕ್ಷಕಾಶಿ (YAKSHAKASHI) .and also yakshagana..
This place have wonderful history.
In year 3 to 4 month yakshagana start from december to ends at 4/5 th month..
I go to this place every year..

Very nice temple. They conduct Yakshagana every night continuously for about 6 months (November to May). New artists get to practice here.

Road to the temple is broken. Be prepared to endure a very rough ride.

This temple is protecting the rich culture of Karnataka......that is yakshagana yearly 180 days yakshagana was played fully night infront of temple... The GSB has full control on the temple authority.... yakshagana Kashi Gundabala is known for its good environment also....

Beautiful place of worship. Yakshagana (a traditional Indian theatre form) is performed in front of Lord Hanuman for six months every year. The only problem is food and accommodation because food is not available every day in temple except few occasions. So, visitors can stay at Honnavar where affordable hotel rooms as well as food are available. And this temple is just 16 kms away from Honnavar.

This temple at Gundabala is very influential in the area and the followers visit during Magha Suddha Dashmi and Vyshakha Suddha Dashmi. The presiding deity is believed be very fond of "Yakshagana" performances and devotees arrange them in devotion. They are commenced after Dasara festival in October and continued till commencement of Monsoon rains in the first week of June, every year. The temple premise has a permanent "Chauki" (green room) and a "Rangasthala" (pendal) for the purpose. The temple has its one troop which performs everyday. Some special two performances are given simultaneously and hence outside troops are also invited. A owed performance is to be booked at least five years in advance! It is strange that this sleepy town is awake when whole world sleeps!!
