A beautiful and divine place which is located in the Mysuru district and post the Mysuru international airport. The Shiva devotees often can be seen during weekends and auspicious occasions here. Usually a crowded place to visit, so plan accordingly early in the morning or not so late in the evening. Parking space is available near the temple, pooja items are not necessary to carry. It's depends on person to person, footwear can be kept in your vehicle or can be given to the shop where you purchase the pooja items.
Overall good experience here!

History of this temple:
A significant Shiva center for about a thousand years has been Nanjangud. This temple is credited to the Chola Rulers of the 11th century, with important renovations made by the Hoysalas as well as the Vijayanagara kings. The Hoysala rulers later repaired this temple.

Sri Srikanteshwara swamy also known as Nanjundeswara.
This place is called the Dakskina Kashi of the South. According to the Mythology, Sage Gauthama installed a Linga, the idol form of Shiva.

The huge Nanjundeswara or Srikanteswara temple was built by the Gangas in the 19th century. The temple has many minor shrines like the Narayana with consorts, Chandikeswara, Parvathi, Natya Ganapathi and others.

The nine-storied tall Gopura or tower is ascribed to the queen of the Mysore kings.

Temple Timings:
Weekdays: 6.00 a.m. to 1.30 p.m & 4.00 p.m. to 9.00 p.m. Sunday: 6.00 a.m. to 10.00 p.m.

It is just 27 Kms from Mysore, Karnataka.

It is one of peaceful place I have visited ,where u can be blessed with a lot of gods in this huge temple where there are n no. of small temple inside.
There is many shops outside the temple for your needs.
It is located near the kapila river tributary of the kaveri. You can enjoy the river view along with the horse ride.

One of the best temples nearby to mysore. The architecture is quite awesome. But one thing I didn't like is the kapila river which s dirty and u can see many clothes, dirt and other things floating nearby to steps. Otherwise it's a very peaceful and powerful temple. A must visit place in Karnataka.

One of the best and oldest temple in the Mysore region. Built by the Mysore kings houses the Lord Nanjundeswara or Srikanteshwary or Shiva along with Godess Parvati.
The temple also houses many dieties within the same complex. There's a huge Nandi to welcome you as you enter the temple.
The temple is situated close to the banks of the Kapila river.
