An old temple situating at near to a sea. The area was nice. A narrow road is leading us to parking area of temple, which is infront of the beach. The temple is now also in an old model and not rennovated anything, even boundary wall.
As per history, first should visit mahabaleswara temple, who visiting murudeshwara temple,

Famously known as Dakshina Kashi. But during peak hours or holidays, you won't get to see the temple properly in peace. Too much crowded. And even the road in front of temple that leads to beach is too crowded always. There used to be calmness earlier on. Now due to tourist attractions, the holiness is getting depleted. Just like how Kashi Vishwanath temple 's road that lead to river banks was cleaned up, it's high time that management, local authorities, government need to clean up the road in front that lead to sea, if you want to restore some holiness & serenity. I got to visit the temple in off hours where I couldn't go inside the main premises to see the idol, but could walk around in the outer premises. That was way peaceful enough.

Old temple of Lord Shiva in Gokarna village in Uttara Kanada district. This temple is very old.

To enter the temple we need to be in proper dhoti and lungi Hindu attires as other dresses are not allowed. Also no leather items are allowed. Ladies can wear sarees and salwar to visit the temple.

The temple timings are from 7 am to 8 pm in the evening.

There is an beach near the temple where we can do camel ride and other fun activities.

Mahabaleshwar Temple in Gokarna is one of the famous temples of South India and there is a good rich history behind it. I would recommend it to read before visiting the temple. Some of the interesting facts about the temple -
1. No Foreigners are allowed.
2. Men are allowed with lungi as attire (no jeans, pants or shorts) - It can be bought outside from markets in around 70 bucks.
3. Women are allowed with traditional Indian attires like saree.
Also lines can be huge on peak days (It took me 1.5 hours in the line on Saturday)

Sri Mahabaleshwara Swami Temple Gokarna is a 4th century ancient Hindu shrine in Karnataka.
The temple is built in Dravidian style and looks as simple as it was. The temple faces the cleanest Gokarna beach of Arabian sea.
This great temple is dedicated to God Shiva and also known as Atmalinga which is unique in the world. This masterpiece also regarded as Dakshin Kashi, often being paralleled to Shiva temple at Varanasi.
it is said that the deity of the temple will bestow immense blessings to devotees, even to those who only glimpse it.
There is no fee to enter the temple You can visit the temple from 6 am to 12:30 pm and 5 pm to 8 pm every day.
No Foreigners are allowed. Mens are allowed with white lungi and Women are allowed with traditional saree/suits.
