This temple is at a five minute walk away from (towards Shivanasamudra) the Ranganatha Temple and it's dedicated to Someshwara and Prasanna Meenakshi. Temple is well maintained and sculptural richer, the Someshwara Temple was restored in 2011.
There is a grand entrance and exit with the exit facing the main road. Well carved images of Nandi sit atop the two gateways. The main shrine houses a large shivalinga in black stone. There is a fish carved on the roof of the mantapa and it is believed that wishes asked standing under the fish facing the shivalinga are granted.
History of Temple: Adi Shankaracharya is believed to have consecrated the Shri Chakra to which the standing goddess’ eyes are directed.
The idol is life-like in size and appearance. Just outside this shrine is the venerated shami tree. We saw the Sri Chakra which was also worshiped by Adi Shankaracharya.
The two shrines are surrounded by manicured gardens and flowering plants which were in full bloom.
This temple is unknown to many but, it's a must visit place on route to the famous falls in Shivanasamudra. The place is about 65 km from Mysuru and 120 km from Bengaluru. Ample space for vehicle Parking space also available around and behind the temple.
Oldest very beautiful temple have its own history in past have shree chakra in this temple
Good place for family weakends break
The specialities of this temple are:
1. Nandi is not exactly opposite of Lord Shiva. You can see in the pic I've uploaded.
2. Sri Chakra in Meenakshi temple.
3. Panchalinga darshana. Panchalingas are placed at the left corner of the temple.
4. Banni mara.
5. An ancient entrance which remembers Badami, Pattadakallu style.
6. A story of Potter who was a devotee of Lord Shiva which is carved on the back door of temple.
If you see Lord Someshwara you can feel different energy here. You can spend good time without any disturbance.
