Jagannath Temple, Nahan, Himachal Pradesh
Raja Mahi Prakash built this ancient temple in 1629 to house an idol he salvaged from Rajbans. It has a spacious courtyard around which are housed various deities. It is also known as Prachin Vishnu Peet
The temple is located in the crowded lanes of the market and it is better to park the vehicle elsewhere and walk up to the temple.
This temple dedicated to Lord Jagannath of Puri is very colorful with a number of colorfully painted arches and pillars. There is a Tulsi Groove in the courtyard. It has a very ornate wooden door. On either side of the entrance door are two idols of Hanuman. One of the walls has a painting of Lord Ganesh. A mural on a wall depict the king offering prayer. Some of the walls have mantras painted on them.
The terrace of the temple complex is approachable by a staircase and one can see the domes of the temple projecting out there.
The banister of the terrace carries images of various deities.
