Somnath Old Mandir by Ahilyabai Devi

Ahilya Bai Holkar installed and resurrected many Shivlings across India. Somnath was one of them. This is the old temple where Somnath dev was worshipped earlier. Some 100 years ago, they were shifted to a new structure.

This old temple is located in front of main Somnath Temple. This temple was built by Maharani Ahilyabai and it is said to be old temple.
I would say that this is underrated temple and not noticed by many pilgrims as they just visit main temple.
Since it is less crowded temple and clean, you'll feel peace within this temple.
The distinguishing feature of this temple is that the the Shivaligam is placed in the basement of the temple. It's a small temple but still has historical importance concerned with Adi Somnath.

This temple built by the Maratha Queen Ahilyabai Holkar, who was moved by the sad state of affairs of the original Somnath Mandir Complex. The main Shivling is below ground level, and one can perform Pooja and Abhishek assisted by the Pujaris here.

Ahilya bai Holker a Martha queen in 17th century build a temple dedicated to Lord Shiva. It is said to be that this temple is substitute to the main Somnath Temple when it was raided and ravaged by muslim invaders. There are two shivlings which is below the ground level.

It is located in the close proximity of the new Somnath temple.

You may expect a lesser crowd when compared to the one at the new temple.

This temple is as fascinating as it can be. It's quite artistic.

The premises of the temple are huge, however , it lacks parking space.

The Shiv Linga is beautiful and huge. One may take the privilege of Anna Prasad which is just opposite to the old Somnath temple (currently free)

This is old Somnath Mandir which existed prior to present large temple. It was renovated by Indore's ruler Devi Ahilyabai Holkar, whose bust is there in premises. The new temple has borrowed architecture style of this temple only and one can see similarity between both. The shivling is large and black in colour. There is a big Gita Press bookshop in premises.

This is the old Somnath temple which is quite close to the main temple. This was the temple restored by Rani Ahilyabai Holkar.

Take the right lane just before the main temple entry and you should reach here in a couple of minutes by foot. There are sign boards as well to help guide.

It is a small temple and is less crowded. The temple is well maintained and one can perform Abhishek also there.

Folks visiting the Somnath temple should include a visit here as well.

Hiii... This temple is very near to main Somnath temple and can be reached on foot. This temple is rejuvenated by Queen Ahilyabai and this temple is thought to be the old temple by many folks. Here parking of any kind of vehicle is arranged by temple organization and is charged accordingly a few meters away. Here many gods statue are present but Lord Shiva linga is main attraction and is present main Garbh. This place is very clean and well maintenance.
