Wherever Darbhanga Maharaj Maheshwar used to build a palace for his residence, first of all he used to get the idol of his favorite goddess Bhagwati Maa Kali established there.
Maharaj Maheshwar had got 6 idols of Maa Kali made in the Rajnagar complex from Ajmer for twenty eight thousand rupees. People say that when the bell used to ring here during the aarti, its sound could be heard for five kilometers. And when the aarti bell used to ring in the night, then jackals used to come and sit around the temple.
This temple was built in mantra-tantra and Vedic form. The beauty and grandeur of this temple still fascinates everyone.
Rajnagar is another village in Madhubani where the Raj of Darbhanga established his one century. Many beautiful buildings and temples were constructed during the period of Raja Ramesh Singh. Although most of the buildings were destroyed in the earthquake of 1934, but the Kali Mandir is still intact. If you would not call it the glory of a mother, then what else would you call it?
Rajnagar is located at a distance of 15 km from Madhubani city and is connected by PWD road Nareli. The famous temples here are Durga temple, Kali temple, Kamakhya temple, Naulakha temple, Shiva temple, Girija temple. Mandirs (Temples) were built by Maharaj Rameshwar Singh after the death of his elder brother Maharaja Laxmeshwar Singh.
The property of Rajnagar, Korhiya and Bhavargarh was donated to Kumar Rameshwar Singh by his elder brother Maharaja Laxmeshwar Singh. After the death of Maharaja Laxmeshwar Singh, his younger brother Kumar Rameshwar Singh became Maharaj and donated all the property vested in the Raj of Darbhanga.
Like many ancient dynasties on Mithila Janaka, Maurya, Gupta, Harsha and Pala. Nanab Dev captured Tirhut and established the dynasty of Karnat. They belong to South India and formerly established their capital at Champaran, which is now in Nepal.
The dynasty remained in power for 266 years. Andhrathari had a special connection with the dynasty of Nanab Deva in Madhubani district, commonly known as the Karat dynasty.
In his period, he built a second capital and places at Andhra Teri. Pandit Sando Jha in his book “Andhra Thiri; Gave Appleted account of the place to 'A Model Town'.
According to R.D.Vakar, the dynasty ended with Harsingh in the year 1326 AD after the invasion of Dev, Tughlaq.

दरभंगा महाराज महेश्वर जहाँ कहीं भी अपने निवास के लिए महल बनवाते थे, सबसे पहले वहां अपनी इष्ट देवी भगवती माँ काली की मूर्ति की प्रतिष्ठित करवाते थे।
महाराज महेश्वर ने राजनगर परिसर में माँ काली की 6 मूर्तियां अठाइस हज़ार रूपए में अजमेर से बनवा कर मंगवाईं गई थी। लोग कहते हैं की जब आरती के समय यहाँ घंटा बजता था, उसकी आवाज़ पांच किलोमीटर तक सुनाई पड़ती थी। और जब रात में आरती का घंटा बजता था, तब मंदिर के चारों ओर सियार आ कर बैठ जाते थे।

यह मंदिर मंत्र-तंत्र और वैदिक रूप से बनवाया गया था। इस मंदिर की खूबसूरती और भव्यता आज भी सबका मन मोह लेती है।
राजनगर मधुबनी में एक और गांव है जहां दरभंगा के राज ने अपने एक शताब्दी की स्थापना की। राजा रमेश सिंह की अवधि के दौरान कई खूबसूरत इमारतों और मंदिरों का निर्माण किया गया। हालांकि, 1934 के भूकंप में अधिकांश इमारतें नष्ट हो गईं, लेकिन लेकिन काली मंदिर अभी भी जस का तस है। इसे माँ की महिमा नहीं कहेंगे तो और क्या कहेंगे।

राजनागर, कोरहिया और भवरगढ़ की संपत्ति को उनके बड़े भाई महाराजा लक्ष्मेश्वर सिंह द्वारा कुमार रामेश्वर सिंह को दान दिया गया। महाराजा की मृत्यु के बाद लक्ष्मेश्वर सिंह, उनके छोटे भाई कुमार रामेश्वर सिंह महाराज बने और दरभंगा के राज में निहित सभी संपत्ति को दान दिया।

मिथिला पर कई प्राचीन राजवंशों की तरह जनक, मौर्य, गुप्त, हर्ष और पाल। नानाब देव ने तिरहुत पर कब्ज़ा कर लिया और कर्नाट के वंश की स्थापना की। वे दक्षिण भारत के हैं और पूर्व में चंपारन में अपनी राजधानी की स्थापना की, जो अब नेपाल में है।
