Sri Sri Sri Suryanarayana Swamy Temple is dedicated to sun god. From the inscriptions, it is known that this temple was built by the king Devendra Verma of my Kalinga Dynasty in the 7th century A.D. The river Nagavali was brought by Balarama, Lord Krishna's brother, during the Dwaparayuga, and a shrine was erected on its banks. At this temple, Lord Rudra Koteswara and Goddess Uma (Parvati) were worshipped by all Devas. The Heavenly God Indra attempted to enter the temple after arriving late. To avoid upsetting his lord, Nandi, the Divine Gatekeeper, who was on duty at the door, stopped him from going in. Nandi became irate because Indra persisted in demanding entry into the shrine. Nandi responded by giving him a powerful foot kick before tossing him far from the temple on the eastern side. Indra was suffering from physical pains as he lay unconscious. By installing and worshipping the Sun God at his location, it is stated that Indra was able to find relief from his extreme pain. With the aid of his weapon Vajrayudha, which IndraPushkarini summoned, Indra formed a water pool.
The early morning sun falls on the feet of the deity twice a year (Uttaraynam - March 9-11 and Dakshinayam - October 1–3), even when the 5 entrance gates are closed.
The place is neat and tidy. Don't forget to use clock rooms since luggage and mobile phone are not allowed in the temple.
If you choose them vehicle to reach they will talk you need to walk only a few steps.
Independent upon the rush of devotees, you can either have general Darshan in case your in a Hari you can buy special tickets for Rs 200. Even on weekends when the duty is marginally high they darshan of the God can be completed in a couple of hours.
