Ghanshyam Super Market

This is quite a large supermarket located on Seshadri Road, also known as the High Tension Road, in Kondapur, Hyderabad. All the main grocery items like grains, snacks, dairy, cosmetics, toiletries, frozen foods and cold drinks are available. Many of the items are available at discounted rates during weekends and some weekdays. Service was slow during the lockdown days due to the pandemic. It may have improved now.

It's good shop to have plastic products specially in Sunday where additional.10 percent discounts are there.

. Vegetables prices are high than other neat bu shops and mostly all of them are packed and sealed. So we don't get a chance to select good ones.

But they have few good offers on month start.

Average supermarket with not-so-well-executed marketing policies.

They opened when the locality suddenly boomed with new housing and started lot of marketing campaigns in which they would award you free stuff (usually cost ~50-150) if you purchase groceries worth 2000-3000 rupees or more. My weekly groceries were mostly above Rs. 3000 however everytime they said that the free gift wasn't available and asked me to visit later - and as you expect, it was not there next time as well. I also noticed some borderline fraudulent practices in their stores in some other locations but that's for another review.

However their range of collections and frequent discount offers were good. They had maggi during early days of the lockdown when maggi was running out almost everywhere.

A friendly supermarket store around the neighborhood. Products are usually offered at less than MRP rates. Offers Sodexo and other payment options. Apart from a traditional supermarket, variety of grocery needs, bakery items are available.

Well stocked grocery mart, helpful staff & a well maintained inventory of items. Staff is helpful and come to your aid whenever needed. Could have been a five star review, had it not been for the cramped queueing area which prevents social distancing during the payment process.

I don't buy much from Ghanshyam as it has lesser outlets and also lesser varieties than Ratnadeep and Vijetha.

One more thing I observed was that there are a few things which are a bit pricy. Not that we have different price for same thing (didn't check myself) somewhere else but there are similar options available at lower price and with all qualities in other chains which I would prefer to buy.

The whole point of Value for money fails if you have a competitor in the line. Yours has to be better.

When it comes to quality, I don't think they do any compromise with quality of any item. Most of the items are packed and branded so if there is any issue, it could be due to the manufacturing defect not due to Ghanshyam

Overall, if it's the only option you have nearby, then prefer to choose this place and shop wisely if you are a person who prefer value for money. (The petrol is a bit costly now a days and most importantly the time you can save by going far)

Has lot of variety in stock items. The 20% discount during Sundays on selected category of items is worth trying.
The most important thing that I want to callout for this store is that almost all vegetables are wrapped in plastic here! This is shocking because even though the world is moving away from plastic, this store is going the opposite direction. No defense is good enough for this store to carry on using plastic. I personally have stopped purchasing vegetables from them and have discouraged friends to do this as well. Want Ghyanshyam as a supermarket with multiple stores across Hyderabad listen to this feedback and discontinue plastic going forward.
