Motihari College of Engineering was originally founded as Indian college of Engineering on 24th November 1980, Situated in the pious land from where Mahatma Gandhi has started his fight with non-violence for independence of our nation and was managed by management but latter on 09th December 1986 the institute was under taken under the Government of Bihar. On 16th December 1994 all the staffs were transferred to different colleges throughout the state after the students get passed.

The fragrance of technical education starts spreading when Honourable CHIEF MINISTER MR. NITISH KUMAR reopened this college on 20th November 2008 & classes resume on 24th November 2008. It has got the status of Govt. Engg. college and became one among six government colleges working under Sc. & Tech. Dept. of Bihar and is approved by AICTE under A.K.U.Patna. There are four branches in college. Computer Sc. & Engg ., Civil Engg., Electrical & Electronics Engg. & Mechanical Engg. The campus encompass library , workshop, play ground ( including basket ball and volleyball court, football and cricket ground), hostel under repairment, two boys hostels and one girls hostel are proposed.

All staffs are highly qualified and are instructed by our highly experienced Principal. He was handling reputed post as technocrat and Prof. since last 35 years.

It is one of the engineering college of state government of BIHAR.
It is not the best place to take technical education as it does not have good faculty member but for those students who could not afford to go in other state to take technical degree; they can take admission here after qualifying BCECE exam.
It is very amazing that even there is lack of best faculty member but still few of the students qualify competitive exam like GATE, ESE, BARC, ISRO, SSC-JE, and many others.

Infrastructure is not good, it's building now.
Ground is very compound. And peaceful place. Approx 3 km away from the highway.
Good plantation.

College is a bit off the highway and regular transportation is not available, you gotta get a reserved vehicle in most cases. Talking about college, it's big the campus is vast .

Located in the outskirts of the city but at a cool place. Roads reaching college are nice. Located in a vast area. Environment is engineering friendly.

As a sports freak management of sport grounds is worst , wrt no of students sports grounds is too small otherwise nice place, competitive environment, very well professor (except some).

Previously the institute was known as Indian College of Engineering-Motihari and was established in 1980. In 1994 all staffs and students were transferred to other engineering colleges of Bihar and the institute was shut down due to some political reason. Later in November 2008, the Government reopen the institute & the name was changed from Indian College of Engineering to Motihari College of Engineering.

Motihari College of Engineering has a permanent campus of 48 acres located at Bairiya Fursatpur, Motihari, East-Champaran district of Bihar in India. It is 8 kilometers from nearest railway station Bapudham Motihari and 5 kilometers from Motihari bus-stand situated at Chhatauni. Regular auto rickshaw services are available from both places to the institute. It is approximately 2.5 kilometers
