Cantonment Varanasi

On the banks of the sacred river Ganga, at the confluence of two of its tributaries the Varuna and the Assi lies the oldest living city in the world, the eternal city of Varanasi. Varanasi Cantt. was established in the year 1811. The emergence of Cantt. Board as a municipal body in Cantonments was basically in response to the need for maintenance of proper sanitation and health and hygiene of these areas. The scope of the Cantt. Board function extends to the entire gamut of Municipal Administration. In addition to providing basic amenities, the Cantt. Board also ensures various social, cultural, educational and medical institutions to the residents of the area. Cantonment Board is a policy making body.

The history of Cantonment started with the land administration for quartering of troops. Housing was the core objective which attracted the civilian population also to reside in the Cantonment. The Bazaar area was recognized and the Cantonment clearly defined in military, bungalow and civil area.

Wide range of connections of trains and busy area. You can have all the service available over here but be aware of the road side sellers here, they might charge hefty amount so don't guess the price and ask them. The shops that are established are good. The roadside vendors in interiors of city are decent though.

Every cantonment is different from the local places. They are clean and greener from the rest of the places of the area.
