Velankanni Morning Star Church

A beautiful and pleasant place to visit. Neatly maintained premises. Mass happening at fixed timings. Has specific places to sell prayer oils and other blessed stuff. Separate places for offerings, candles and head tonsure. Has a poorly maintained small museum. The array of shops at the back of the Church selling literally everything, from fruits to toys to vessels leads to the famous Velankanni Beach.

We visited on a Saturday noon-evening time and the beach was fully crowded with no place to stand. The Velankanni Churches & Beach - Overall a good place to visit.

The Velankanni church is one of the best holy place in India for Christians. There about 9 churches and all are very old and neatly maintained. It is located just beside beach just 1 km away. The rooms are available for visitors inside church compound, non a/c 550/- per day, 3 beds per room and neatly maintained. No mosquitoes ☺️ problem. Telugu worship available @8am Sunday in upper stairs, Main Church. For breakfast, we visited Saravanan veg hotel, good and hygiene. For dinner n lunch better to take rice n vegetables along with you there u can cook..cooking gas available charge Rs 50/100 per hr between 7 am to 7pm only.

Too much crowded due to easter. So many rituals and stories we can see there. There are four church you should visit .and the beach is the inevitable element of velankanni church. Cleanliness is very less. Variety of fish fries are available there.

It is a beautiful church which can accommodate approx 2000 or more people. This church Alter is the biggest one I have seen so far. It has very large propeller type fans. Air circulation inside is very good. It is a pillar less construction. A very peaceful atmosphere inside.There are holy mass in different languages.Easily accesible from main road.The roof of the church is said to be constructed with a single ceiling without any beams.

A very famous Church known for several miracles happening here when one visits and offers prayers with a fervent heart. The Church is well maintained and very clean inspite of the crowds. Churches built here are marvelous and a treat to the eyes.
There is a sand road with shops selling varieties of goods on either side , catering to pilgrims and tourists alike ,leading down from the church to the beach which is mostly crowded during weekends.
On the whole a must place to visit for the religious.

The biggest church service space I have seen in India. Can perhaps house over 2000 people! It's a long walk to here from the main church. Interestingly the entire space is spread across the length of thr building instead of the breadth, this way more people are closer to the shrine and sermons at all time.
