Beautiful,spacious,church by the side of the sea...Fishermen colony all around.. Once it was a great natural harbour ,now destroyed by the govt by depositing random rubble all over and it became very dangerous for the small boat to reach the land and this lead to the end of fishihing harbour once there...

Saint Thomas church, which I recently visited is located in Poonthura, a coastal hamlet on the outskirts of Thiruvananthapuram city.
The church, located facing the sea is a charm to see. There are all services offered here.
Not wheelchair accessible.

St. Thomas Church, Poonthura is under the jurisdiction of the Latin archdiocese of trivandrum. It's a coastal parish church, with majority of the community comprised by the fisher flock. When most churches as less occupied, this church is mostly occupied by the locale, showing their deep rooted faith and Catholic tradition. Being a comparatively big parish, there will be normally a parish priest and two assistant Parish priests. The feast of St Thomas, the principal feast, is celebrated here after the Easter, eventhough Church celebrates it on 3 June. It becomes the feast of not only the parishioners, but of the entire locality.
The church is nice and a hallmark silence permeated every inch of it, giving one a perfect ambience to pray and delve into the divine presence.
