Writer's Cafe - VR Mall

Awesome place to have snacks / food at the VR Mall food court, and pricing was much better than I anticipated.

Tried a Sloppy Joe on bread, and Paneer.

Pro - Can pay directly here, no need to head to the food box and get a card ahead in time (like most shops at Food court)

This cafe offers great value for money. Moderate pricing compared to other shops in the mall. Food quality and taste are good. Their Pizzas and hot chocolate are great. Very good option to eat in VR mall.

Had ice cream scoops here. Vanilla scoop and rum & raisin scoop. Both were good and value for money, cost around 55 for each scoop. 750 ml Water bottle cost 50 inr. This place has continental items and ambience is good. Good place for clicking selfies.

Writers Cafe is an excellent place for food. It is part of Higgin Bothams which is one of the oldest book store of not only Chennai but one of the oldest in India. The first thing one notices when entering this place is the cool quotient of the place. It is always attached to the book store. Nice people always walk in and walk out of this place. The choice of food is Western cuisines. The desserts are certainly one of the best in Chennai. My family is always part of the regular clientele of this place. It is extremely reasonable in its pricing, the quality is top notch, the service is always done with a smile, the ambience is excellent here. My choice of food is the flammenkuchen (a square pizza), the fish and chips, all the pastas, the chicken Lasagne, the Potatoes and cheese bake. All the desserts here are a must try here along with the Ice Creams, Shakes and Waffles. No wonder they have regular customers knocking on their doors. A must try place which is easy on the purse with great great quality.

Writer's cafe used to have a good reputation for its food, Drinks, ambience and cleanliness. And this place is there to ruin its reputation for good.

Ordered an iced filter coffee and iced Milo to quench the heat. The sweetness in both was a bit more than usual. The quantity didn't equal the cost paid. Worst of all there were roaches running around the seats, tables and the chair. Big ones as well as small. This made me not go for any food and actually got worried about food hygiene at this place.

I understand that it's in a mall and there's only as much they can do to upkeep the hygiene of the place! But nevertheless, being a brand and a franchise, this shouldn't let down people's expectations of the place or ruin people's health.

I hope the relevant team makes amends asap!

It's really good experience. The vibe was so good . Please careful to chose topping . Because I gone with my cousin. I like sausages but they don't prefer.grilled chicken is best to taste. Good customer service and response.

Writers Cafe is my favorite food place! Each dish is Jaw Dropping yummy!

The ice creams are yummy too, it's just 45 rupees for a scoop. Worth trying ! It's very much AFFORDABLE! please visit and Enjoy your meal!

Have been meaning to try Writers cafe Egmore for some time. Never did. Went for a evening coffee at VR Mall and ordered the pizzaa and waffle along with that. Went for a second cup of coffee and waffle . Every item tasted amazing. Service was excellent. Would have this in my favourites list in Chennai.
