Atfirst, I checked out the books there and wanted to buy some, the owner, Mr Raman Shrestha (or the bookowner whoever he is) had an objection each time I checked out my phone to check on some books.
Coming from a family of avid book-lovers, Naturally I wanted to show the catalogue of the books to my siblings for them to buy, to which I was rebuked very rudely and was told that if I was to use the phone, I would have to go out, and then this man had the audacity to let off all his frustations by letting me out.
0/5 stars, unfortunately, Google reviews don't have negative stars.
Behaviour do set or break the mood.
If you're planning to visit this place, go to a bookstore and buy books instead, atleast you won't be humiliated.
Let me start with the Google location for this place, which is incorrect. The menu is limited, and underwhelming. For them, a "Grilled cheese sandwich" is two slices of toast with a cheese slice in between. Their menu has toast with an option of Jam and Butter. But after ordering, I was told that there was no jam. The only palatable thing was the hot chocolate, which I highly recommend. Of course, the counter mentioned that they accepted cards, but the machine was defunct. The serving staff was too busy watching the dogs outside than anything else, so there was that.
The bookshop owner had an objection with me even checking whether the book was available on amazon on Kindle format, which is preposterous. He then vehemently refused to sell me anything. As much as I am in the favour of supporting traditional bookstores, such behaviour is uncalled for, and leaves a bad taste in the customer's mouth. People should have the right to at least check if the book is available digitally, since not everyone has the space to stack hardcovers in their homes. When I finally told him that I wanted to buy some of the books, he was adamant on not selling anything.
All in all, it was a disappointing visit. I had beard so much about this café, but it really isn't worth it. Not for the bolks, and certainly not for the food.
