Central Baptist Church, Sibsagar, Assam

Established in the year 1845, 26 January, it's one of the oldest churches in north-east India. Built by the American Christian Baptist Missionaries on the bank of the famous 130 acre tank (Borpukhuri), it is also considered as the mother church of the Christians of Nagaland.
The statue of Rev. Dr. Miles Bronson, the American Baptist missionary, situated on the bank of the famous 'Borpukhuri' (tank) has been installed by the Government of Assam and is supported by the Central Baptist Church, Sivasagar, for its maintenance. 'Apostle to Assam' he compiled the first Assamese dictionary in 1867 and brought out the first Assamese language newspaper "Orunoodoi" in 1845.

One of the old church and the foundation for Christianity in Assam but it is very slow progress. The people should really work hard more to improve.
