The temple was built during the reign of Rao Shiv Singh. The idol of Sheetla Mata ji is made of Jhajhra stone. This is the first temple in the city to be built outside the wall. In the temple, there is a beautiful idol of Mata Rani, which resembles the form of Maa Lakshmi. Here every year Mata ji's fair is held on Sheetlashtami and a grand court is decorated. The area around the temple is famous as Sheetla Chowk (Mand) by the name of Mataji. There are auto stands near the temple.
Right in front of the temple is the ancient temple of Shri Rojgareshwar Mahadev.

श्री शीतला माता जी का मंदिर सीकर शहर के प्राचीन मंदिरों में से एक हैं।इतिहासकारों के अनुसार सीकर की बसावट के लगभग 46 साल बाद इसका निर्माण किया गया। राव शिव सिंह के शासन काल में मंदिर का निर्माण हुआ था। शीतला माता जी की प्रतिमा झाझड़ा पत्थर से निर्मित हैं। यह परकोटे के बाहर बनने वाला शहर का पहला मंदिर है। मंदिर में माता राणी की मनमोहक प्रतिमा विराजमान हैं जो मां लक्ष्मी रूप सदृश्य प्रतीत होती हैं। यँहा प्रतिवर्ष शीतलाष्टमी को माता जी का मेला भरता हैं एवं भव्य दरबार सजता हैं। माता जी के नाम से ही मंदिर के चारो और का क्षेत्र शीतला चौक (मंड) के नाम से प्रसिद्ध हैं। मंदिर के पास में ही ऑटो स्टेंड हैं।
मंदिर के ठीक सामने श्री रोजगारेश्वर महादेव का प्राचीन मंदिर हैं।
